BOP 2027
Past Forward
After the 2026 edition — thirteen concerts held together by Pompeian red and the crescent of the arena — Blackstar Entertainment returns to the Amphitheatre of the excavations with a third edition and a different brief: don't repeat the system, reopen it.
The reason is practical before it is aesthetic. A visual identity built on the colour of an artefact works for a season, maybe two; by the third the audience stops seeing it and starts recognising it, which is not the same thing. And the 2027 line-up is built through successive announcements: the first confirmed name is Simply Red, the others arrive over the following months.
What was needed was a system that could carry a line-up revealed in pieces, as recognisable on the first date as on the last.
In 2026 the system held two families together: Trajan Pro for the Roman inscription and Akrobat for everything else. In 2027 the capital serif leaves the stage and only the geometric remains: memory is no longer quoted in type, it has moved into the mark. The BOP logotype is not set — it is drawn lettering, with the zero of 2027 repeating the circle of the wave — and stays untouched, as in the previous editions.
The edition poster goes out months before the first name. It has to say everything — series, year, place, promise — without a single artist photograph. Then, as dates are confirmed, the same structure has to take in an official portrait that arrives fully made, with its own light and its own palette.
The 2026 crescent could not do both jobs: it was a cut-out, it asked for an image underneath. What was needed was a mark that could also stand alone.
The mark of the edition is a system of concentric circles: eight offset rings, like sound propagating seen from above — or like the amphitheatre itself in plan. It hangs above the cavea, lit from below by a haze rising from the centre of the arena. The place is no longer quoted by a cut-out: it is the source.
The payoff Past Forward holds both directions in two words: an archaeological site programming contemporary music. It always sits under the year, in SemiBold, with no punctuation.
The grammar of the poster is vertical and symmetrical: wave at the top, BOP·year·payoff lockup in the middle, venue at the bottom, partner band at the foot. When an artist arrives, the portrait enters the upper half and the wave becomes its halo — moved, not removed. Same architecture, two states.

Pompeian red from 2026 is out. One background remains — the night blue of the arena — on which the wave turns in two registers: green-blue for the edition, orange-violet for the variants. The two never mix in the same poster. CMYK and Pantone values are approximations derived from RGB.
From the vertical poster the system moves to the other supports without redrawing itself. The horizontal banner opens the wave in the centre and sets venue and payoff on either side, on axis. The square avatar brings the lockup inside a single circle, for social profiles and event covers. The 9:16 vertical stretches the cavea under the portrait, for stories.
When a concert is confirmed, the artist poster follows the rule already set in 2026: the official image stays as it is. The system adds the wave, the BOP lockup at the foot, the partner band — and nothing else.
The partner band is the most rigid part of the system: MiC, Archaeological Park of Pompeii, Regione Campania, City of Pompeii, Blackstar Entertainment, Assomusica, with the promoter marks added at the end. Same height, same optical alignment, on every format.

The edition poster went out with no artists and it held. When Simply Red was confirmed — Summer Funk '27, Tuesday 27 July, promoted by D'Alessandro e Galli — the poster was born inside the system in a single pass: band portrait on colour bands in the upper half, cavea and haze below, BOP 2027 lockup at the foot.
That is the proof the project was asked for: a line-up announced in pieces that stays one thing. Every new date adds an image to the system without asking it to change.
The lesson of 2026 was that unity can come from the place. The lesson of 2027 is that, once found, it has to be made portable.
